Advertisement No. 25/2026 describes a possible three-stage recruitment process. HPSC may instead go directly to the Subject Knowledge Test and interview, without a Screening Test.

How selection may proceed

  1. Screening Test, if held. HPSC may use it to shortlist candidates when applications are numerous. The notice also allows shortlisting by educational marks, qualifications or relevant experience.
  2. Subject Knowledge Test. This is the subject-stage test named in the notification. HPSC can hold it after a Screening Test or directly.
  3. Interview. The notification names an interview after the Subject Knowledge Test; it does not prescribe its marks here.

Patterns reported online

Exam websites publish conflicting figures for this same 2026 recruitment:

Unverified exam-pattern claims from independent websites
SourceReported format
Sarkari Job Khojo ↗100-question, 120-minute objective Screening Test (80 subject, 20 general); one-quarter negative marking. It also reports a 150-mark, three-hour descriptive Subject Knowledge Test.
Career Briefs ↗ / JobMarg ↗200 objective questions, 200 marks, 120 minutes. Career Briefs additionally claims no negative marking.

Important: These are incompatible third-party claims, not an HPSC-issued scheme. Advertisement No. 25/2026 does not confirm either question count, marks, duration, marking rule or subject split. Use the stages above as the official position and wait for a separate HPSC pattern/syllabus notice before relying on any figures.

Not specified in this notification

Question count, total marks, paper duration, negative marking, subject-wise weightage, detailed syllabus and the final decision on a Screening Test have not been announced in Advertisement No. 25/2026. HPSC says its decision on the examination pattern will be final.

About this site's mocks: Their 100-question, 200-mark, 120-minute format is a practice assumption. It is not the confirmed HPSC 2026 exam pattern.

Marking scheme

HPSC has not published the marking scheme yet (Advt 25/2026 does not state one). This test uses +1 for a correct answer and −1/3 for a wrong one, the rule most state PSCs use. An unanswered question scores zero. Our mocks for this exam are scored the same way.

No cut-off exists for this exam yet: HPSC's only earlier FSO advertisement (24/2022) was withdrawn by the state government before any exam was held, so the 2026 cycle is the first. The row below is the most recent official state FSO cut-off from another state, shown only so you can see the level a state FSO selection has actually needed. It is not a cut-off for this exam.
