BHU Postgraduate Entrance Test — Food Science & Dairy Technology

Banaras Hindu University's PET admitted students into its MSc Food Science & Technology / Dairy Technology programmes with one combined paper spanning food technology, dairy science, agriculture and agricultural engineering. BHU moved PG admissions to CUET-PG around 2022-23; this covers the earlier PET format.

Before CUET-PG, Banaras Hindu University selected students for its postgraduate programmes through its own Postgraduate Entrance Test (PET). Admission to M.Sc./M.Tech. Food Technology and Dairy Technology was decided by one undergraduate-level objective paper. The last PET was held in 2021 and conducted by NTA; these programmes now admit through CUET-PG.

Who can apply

For PET 2021, M.Sc./M.Tech. Food Technology required a four-year agriculture, food, dairy or related bachelor's degree with a minimum OGPA. This is the historical criterion, because BHU now admits through CUET-PG.

  • 4-year B.Sc. (Ag.)/B.Sc. (Hons.) Ag., B.Sc. Food Technology/Food Science, B.Tech. Food Technology or Dairy Technology, B.Sc. Dairy Technology/Dairying Science
  • or B.Voc. in Food Science / Food Processing and Management / Food Engineering (with 10+2 science), or B.Sc./B.Tech. Horticulture with fruit and vegetable or post-harvest specialisation
  • Minimum 6.0/10 OGPA (2.5/4, 3.5/5, 4.0/6) for general category; 5.5/10 (2.0/4, 3.0/5, 3.5/6) for SC/ST/OBC/PwD; not more than one third division in the academic career
  • B.Tech. graduates received an M.Tech., others an M.Sc.
