Food Safety & Regulation

Best before date

The date up to which a food is expected to keep its best quality, taste, and texture. After this date the food may not be at its best but can still often be safely eaten.

Real-life application

Biscuits or namkeen past their ‘best before’ date may turn a little less crisp, but this is different from being unsafe to eat.
