Karnataka Food Safety Officer recruitment (expected through the Karnataka Examinations Authority) 2027
Karnataka's Food Safety and Drug Administration has over half of its Food Safety Officer posts vacant and has asked the Karnataka Examinations Authority to recruit; no notification, scheme or exam date has been published yet.
Karnataka has 210 sanctioned Food Safety Officer posts, and a Deccan Herald report puts 113 of them vacant. The Commissioner of Food Safety has said the department is working with the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) to fill them and has asked KEA to change the qualification for the post. No notification has been issued, so the exam scheme, syllabus and dates are not known. This page will be updated when KEA publishes an advertisement; until then, the FSS Act and food science preparation used for other state FSO exams applies.

Who can apply
No Karnataka notification exists yet. The national qualification for any Food Safety Officer post is set by Rule 2.1.3 of the FSS Rules 2011; Karnataka has asked KEA to revise its own recruitment qualification, so check the advertisement when it appears.
- Degree in Food Technology, Dairy Technology, Biotechnology, Oil Technology, Agricultural Science, Veterinary Science, Bio-Chemistry or Microbiology
- or an M.Sc in Chemistry, or a degree in Medicine
- Plus the training the Food Authority specifies, at a recognised institute
- Karnataka-specific conditions (age, Kannada, local cadre, fee) will be in the KEA advertisement; none has been published
