Who can apply

A degree in Food Technology qualifies you for every Food Safety Officer post in India. The qualification is fixed by Rule 2.1.3 of the Food Safety and Standards Rules, 2011 — not by the recruiting state — and has not changed between notifications.

  • Degree in Food Technology, Dairy Technology, Biotechnology, Oil Technology, Agricultural Science, Veterinary Science, Bio-Chemistry or Microbiology
  • or an M.Sc in Chemistry, or a degree in Medicine
  • Plus the training the Food Authority specifies, at a recognised institute
  • Age limits, fees and relaxations are set per notification — check the current one
