APEDA Assistant Manager syllabus 2026
APEDA publishes the section scheme but no topic list. The general section is one-mark general awareness, current affairs, English and reasoning; the APEDA section tests what the Authority does and how agri-food exports work; the subject section is set at degree level in the candidate's subject, which for food graduates is food science and technology. The topic lists below for the APEDA and subject sections are inferred from APEDA's mandate and the interview topics APEDA lists for its AGM post, not from an official syllabus.
Exam pattern and marking
- General Awareness including current affairs, English, Reasoning: objective, 20 questions, 20 marks
- APEDA / Agri. Export related: objective, 30 questions, 30 marks
- Questions from the subjects concerned at degree level: objective, 30 questions, 30 marks
- Essay writing and precis writing: descriptive, 2 questions, 20 marks
- Four options per objective question, 1 mark each, 25% negative marking; OMR sheet and answer booklet by pen; 2.5 hours
- Qualifying mark: 60% of the written test marks; descriptive answers in English or Hindi, not mixed
One 2.5-hour paper of 100 marks: 80 objective questions and a 20-mark essay and precis syllabus
General awareness, English and reasoning
3 topics- Current affairs, especially trade and agriculture
- English grammar and vocabulary
- Verbal and analytical reasoning
APEDA and agri-food exports
4 topics- APEDA Act 1985, scheduled products and APEDA's functions; registration-cum-membership certificate (RCMC)
- National Programme for Organic Production (NPOP) and certification; traceability systems
- India's major agri and processed food exports and markets; export promotion and market access
- WTO, SPS and TBT measures, tariffs, residue and contaminant limits in importing countries
Degree subject (food science and technology)
3 topics- Food chemistry, microbiology and nutrition
- Preservation, packaging and quality control; HACCP and food safety standards
- Processing of cereals, fruits and vegetables, dairy, meat and plantation products
Descriptive
2 topics- Essay on an agriculture, trade or general topic
- Precis of a passage
