A topic-wise syllabus for this cycle could not be found on the commission's site; the units below reflect the three parts printed on the 22 October 2022 question booklet and what that paper tested, and are not an official syllabus. The booklet states 175 questions and 350 marks in 2.5 hours, whereas the paper on this site has 154 questions and 308 marks (48 English, 24 General Knowledge, 82 Food Safety Standards & Nutrition), so some questions appear to have been dropped.
Exam pattern and marking
- Question booklet (22-10-2022): 175 questions, 350 marks, 2.5 hours, all compulsory, answers on an OMR sheet.
- Part A General English: 50 questions, 100 marks (2 marks each). Part B General Knowledge: 25 questions. Part C Food Safety Standards & Nutrition: 100 questions.
- No negative marking for wrong answers.

Part A: General English
3 topics- Fill in the blanks with prepositions, articles and verb forms
- Idioms and phrases, synonyms and antonyms
- Sentence correction and usage
Part B: General Knowledge
3 topics- Indian history and national movement
- Polity, personalities and everyday general awareness
- Current affairs and inventions
Part C: Food safety, law and standards
3 topics- Food Safety and Standards Act and the authority's initiatives
- Food standards, permissible additives and limits
- Food labelling, symbols and testing
Part C: Food chemistry, nutrition and microbiology
4 topics- Enzymes, browning, antioxidants and food additives
- Carbohydrates, fats, proteins and energy metabolism
- Water quality, spoilage, bread staling and harmful compounds formed in cooking
- Dairy products and everyday food technology
